2023 Highlights and 2024 Plans

An update on behalf of the SEVENmile Ltd Board, Rob Forsyth (Chair), Mitchell Filby (Co-Founder), and Greg Twemlow (Co-Founder).

Since our inception in 2018, SEVENmile has been at the forefront of nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship. By late 2019 we had coached and mentored 245 northern beaches entrepreneurs. We'd also failed to secure meaningful support from Local, State, or Federal government agencies. And then my phone rang - it was NSW Education, and that conversation took us rapidly toward the work we've been doing in NSW high schools teaching real-world skills to over 1500 students.

Join us as we continue to empower, educate, and innovate, shaping a brighter future for everyone we engage with.

2023 Highlights: A Year of Empowering Change

Expanding Horizons: The Enterprise in the Community (EitC) program, aimed at year 9-11 students, reached new heights, impacting nearly 1,000 students across 30 high schools in 2023. This expansion brought universally positive outcomes, showcasing the transformative power of EitC in shaping young minds.

We especially thank:
1. the Regional Industry Education Partnerships (RIEP) team in NSW Education for their continued sponsorship.

2. Catholic Schools Broken Bay, enabling their eight high schools to experience EitC.

3. Finclear CEO David Ferral for sponsorship of the competition event and a big thanks to Finclear staff Kyla Aldrich, Krystle Wheeler, and a special thanks to Nigel Abbott for managing videography at the event.

4. Guardian Safety Solutions owners Christine and Graham Duffy-Smith for sponsorship of the Broken Bay Diocese event.

5. Over 200 business owners, thank you for your generosity in making time and engaging with the student teams.

6. More than 200 high school staff, Principals, Teachers, and Careers Advisers, for their wonderful support.

7. and finally, our key SEVENmile pro-bono sponsor, Michael Zhu at Corporate Advantage, for professional management of our P&L and tax reporting.

Fostering Competition and Reward: Celebrating young talent, we hosted two Sponsored Competition events with a generous total prize pool of $13,000. Regardless of their ranking, the fourteen participating teams received a financial reward, turning their efforts into a festive bonus.

Skills Excellence for Educators: Our Teacher Train-the-Trainer workshops, held in August, continued their legacy of excellence. Participating teachers from nine high schools received invaluable insights, working with real Business Problems, a testament to our commitment to practical, real-world learning.

AI Integration in Learning: 2023's workshops integrated AI, enhancing the depth and speed of learning. This technological initiative was a resounding success, illustrating our adaptive approach to educational needs.

Regional NSW Reach: The Enterprise in the Community program extended its impact to regional areas, including Batemans Bay, Wollongong, Dubbo, Albury, Wagga Wagga, and Central Coast, demonstrating our dedication to inclusivity and regional development.

The 2024 Plan

Standalone EitC Workshops: The fifth year of Enterprise in the Community will continue to be an independent, impactful workshop, upholding its legacy of excellence.

Innovative Teacher Skills Training: The Teacher TTT workshop is evolving into 'AI-powered Skills for Teachers', retaining its comprehensive two-day format while aligning with modern educational demands and qualifying as Professional Development.

Z Summits - Unleashing Gen Z's Potential: Introducing 'Z Summits,' a dynamic convergence of Gen Z's creativity and experiential learning. These summits, aiming to be held in metropolitan and country regions, are not just events but catalysts for discovering future leaders and innovators.

AI Webinar Series: A trio of webinars designed to demystify AI and empower individuals and corporate teams with up to ten participants. Each session, from introductory concepts to advanced techniques, is tailored to unlock the full potential of AI in various professional contexts.

By embracing these plans and reflecting on our achievements, SEVENmile is poised to continue empowering individuals and communities, driving innovation and change in 2024 and beyond.
